Shanghai’s Yaya’s Takes Over Little Bao for a Two-Night BAODOWN

Two nights only, 28 & 29 June: the Jing’an cult favourite brings its Chinese-inflected pasta to Little Bao

For two nights only, Little Bao hands its kitchen to Yaya’s, the Shanghai pasta bar with a cult following, for the next installment of BAODOWN. On 28 and 29 June, Chef Dan Li brings Yaya’s menu of Chinese-inflected Italian pasta to Hong Kong, hosted by May Chow at Little Bao’s newly consolidated Central home.
Chef Dan Li of Yaya’s has built a reputation in Shanghai for chaotic-good pasta, high-energy dining, and dishes that feel equal parts nostalgic, excessive, and wildly addictive. At Little Bao, May Chow has spent over a decade reshaping Hong Kong casual dining through flavour-packed baos and irreverent creativity. Together, the two chefs step into BAODOWN with a shared instinct for bold ideas, playful clashes, and food that refuses to behave quietly on the table.

Dan Li is cooking Yaya’s menu across both nights, with May Chow joining in from the Little Bao kitchen. Expect handmade pasta in Yaya’s house style alongside a few dishes built for the occasion. For one weekend, the menu runs on Shanghai time at a Soho counter.
The six-course menu
Pasta Fritta with Smoked Scallop Tartare
Stracciatella with green grape and fig leaf
Braised Beef Tongue Tonnato, tender and rich with a familiar umami
Culurgione, the hand-pleated Sardinian dumpling known as a labour of love, stuffed with Xinjiang lamb and Xibei pesto under a brown butter glaze
Yin Yang Filet-O-Fish Bao, inspired by Hunan fish head, with paired red chilli and green herb condiments
Zabaglione with watermelon and salted plum, a light custard with a velvety foam to close

Held exclusively at Little Bao on 1-3 Shin Hing Street—now Little Bao’s one and only home in Hong Kong—the BAODOWN experience continues the restaurant’s run of community-led collaborations, with more culture-driven dining events featuring major regional names to follow.
The experience is offered as a ticketed six-course dinner at HKD 680 per person, with seatings at 5:30PM, 7:15PM, and 9PM across both nights. Each seating is limited to 19 guests only.
