Come Mother’s Day, the usual playbook tends to be predictable—flowers, set menus, and family gatherings that follow a familiar routine. At Club Rangoon, things take a slightly different turn.
On Saturday, 9 May, from 11.30am to 3.00pm, the Duxton shophouse sets the table for a celebration that feels relaxed and a little more free-flowing, where dishes land in the middle and conversation flows between bites. At $48++ per person, this Mother’s Day Brunch Menu brings together bold Burmese flavours, best enjoyed with Mum at the heart of the table.
Starting off the brunch, the Fried Oyster, crisp at the edges and briny at its core, cut through with a tomato chilli aioli that brings just enough heat to wake the palate. Alongside this, the Bel Thar Thoke moves in a savoury direction, with pulled duck confit tossed through a winged bean salad, balancing its richness with crunch and lift.
From there, the table settles into the classic Wet Thar Nangyi Thoke, a dish that anchors the meal much like it does back home. Round noodles are worked through with pork, toasted chickpea flour, red onions, pork crackling and chilli—hearty, textured, and built for sharing, where each bite shifts slightly depending on what you pick up.
When it comes to mains, diners get to choose one of three dishes, each bringing something a little different to the table without overcomplicating things. Kyet Kin brings grilled chicken thigh paired with an aloo Waldorf salad, smoky and creamy in equal measure. Burnt Cabbage leans into something softer and more unexpected, with charred edges folded into curry butter, mint yogurt and crispy shallots. Ngar Kin rounds it out with grilled seabass fillet finished in a Burmese-style curry sauce, rich but balanced, letting the fish hold its own.
Dessert lands somewhere familiar yet playful. Presenting the Shwe Yin Aye, with a Club Rangoon twist. Coconut ice cream meets jackfruit and traditional toppings, cool and fragrant, easing the meal to a close.
Mother’s Day at Club Rangoon isn’t built around grand gestures or perfectly timed courses. It’s a simple, no-fuss way to gather the family and spend the day with Mum over a proper meal, exactly the kind of celebration the day calls for.
